In order to advance your implementation of VMware and to demonstrate the actual benefits of server virtualisation on your servers, DSS can provide you with a VMware server virtualisation Proof of Concept implementation.
This service offering is designed to enable you to quickly understand and utilise the capabilities of VMware ESX Server and VMware VirtualCentre, applied specifically to your environment.
It is an entirely self contained and complete service that will virtualise a selected set of your existing servers. This will take actual servers from your existing environment and install them on either a new server you provide or on servers in DSS’s VMware Proof of Concept laboratory.
If you provide the infrastructure we can supply you with a 30-day free trial of VMware server virtualisation software onsite so you can test and demonstrate the operation of virtual servers within your organisation.
This will allow you explore the operation, management, administration and use and benefits of server virtualisation using real servers and the systems and applications.
Scope of Proof of Concept Service
The scope of the proof of concept excercise is:
- Server Identification
- Virtual Server Setup
- Virtual Server Operation and Administration Training and Skills Transfer
- Server Virtualisation Solution Documentation
DSS personnel will work with your technical personnel to identify candidate servers.
DSS recommends that your personnel are involved in the server virtualisation Proof of Concept so they can learn from the work done. We will provide training and skills transfer during the exercise.
The outputs from the server virtualisation Proof of Concept will be a fully operational virtual server environment either on your infrastructure or on DSS’s infrastructure.
We will fully document the work done during the proof of concept excercise and create a summary that can be used as a presentation to your management.
