DSS provides a service where we conduct a comprehensive review of your Microsoft Exchange Infrastructure, called the Microsoft Exchange Health & Security Audit. The review thoroughly examines your Exchange server environment to verify that it is performing optimally and securely.

Specifically, the DSS Microsoft Exchange Health & Security Audit will give you:

Server Security review covering service packs, virus scanning, access control, server hardening
A comprehensive and detailed analysis on your current messaging environment to cover Network services design, Hardware Design / Performance, Backup Recovery status, External /Remote Access
Attention will be drawn to any critical or serious issues that need immediate focus and recommendations will be made in order to improve overall system optimisation
The following are the key areas and process that will take place through this Exchange Health & Security audit:
  • Run Exchange configuration analysis tools.
  • Run Domain Controller diagnostics tools
  • Run Domain Replication tools.
  • Run Network Diagnostic tools that are prevalent to Exchange.
  • Review and test your protocol settings.
  • Review and test your message flow.
  • Point out security weakness in your environment.
  • Review and test your global settings including filtering and recipient limits.
  • Review the Storage Group and Mailbox Store configurations.
  • Review mailbox management policies and procedures.
  • Review your OWA / OMA configuration.
  • Review your monitoring and reporting policies and procedures.
  • Review your Exchange backup, restore and DR procedures.*
  • During the review we will provide technical advice and assistance on new areas of
  • Exchange that may be beneficial to your company like, SMIME etc.

Typical health & security audits will involve a one day onsite visit to perform the assessments, followed by a half day to write up the report and a half day to present the findings.

* If you have no Backup / Recovery / DR plan or procedure then our report will highlight that, it will not include a DR plan as part of the server report.
